A bookmark costs S$2.35. How many cents is that? Start by separating the dollars from the cents: two dollars is 200 cents. Then add the remaining 35 cents. The total is 235 cents.
Ask your child to explain what each digit represents. If they choose 2035 cents, revisit the connection between S$1 and 100 cents before giving another calculation.
