“Before planting the seeds, Farah filled a pot with soil. After planting them, she watered the soil.” Which action came before planting? The word “before” connects filling the pot with the action that follows it. Farah filled the pot with soil first.
Ask your child to point to the words that support the answer. This builds a habit of returning to the text, rather than guessing from what usually happens.
